yawn

Bella managed to sneak into my brother’s room twice tonight. She just can’t resist the “forbidden.” She’s taken a liking to Charlie’s towel under mom’s bed. Unfortunately she’s a bit too big to fit under the bed once she gets it pulled out. I’m thinking of making a spot for her to look out the front window. Charlie’d never venture up that high, but I think she’s appreciate it.

She’s learning things very quickly. Charlie always runs into the hall whenever I open the fridge, expecting to be fed. It took her a few days, but now she’s always on his heels.

She isn’t nipping ankles as much now either. If I lay down next to her she sniffs at my face and gives me “bunny kisses”. I keep waiting to feel her teeth, but so far she’s been quite sweet.

Chewin

I just discovered BunSpace, don’t know why I didn’t know about this before! There’s a lot of local buns and their parents listed, even a couple in my town!!

Bella Leche is learning, but still wants to nip at our ankles and dig in the litter box. I’ve used less litter in the box, which seems to help, but Charlie will need to get used to it.

They’ve discovered broccoli now, and love it! I didn’t think they would for some reason, even though they like broccoli rabe. Even Charlie wolfed it down, stem and all! This is actually one of the few veggies that all 3 of us eat.

Charlie was in his little cardboard house, about to eat his pouch-pellets, and Bella comes barging in, nose to the ground prodding his tummy. He kept backing up until he had to leave the box to be left in peace. “Dammit woman! Leave me ‘lone!” That was actually nice to see for a change since he usually acquiesces to her every demand.

snuggle

We’ve started calling Bella Leche, Bella Lugosi. I’ve found that if I grunt at her while she’s trying to bite my ankles she backs off a bit. She’s officially ours now! Though I don’t think Charlie really wants to share her. He’s gotten quite possessive of her.

Last night we brought the two of them downstairs for dinner and Bella spent most of the time underneath a buffet table. She ate an apple slice and slept, but just did not want to come out. Charlie came over there several times to check on her. (He’s such a devoted little brother!) She did eventually come out and hop around.

Bella’s been getting into the duct tape. She pulls at it and then it gets stuck on her. It’s happened at least twice already! You’d think she’d learn after the first time, but no. I guess it doesn’t really bother her, but it’s not fun for me to carefully pull it off her chin. She’s still got bits of glue on her whisker.

It’s only been a month since she’s moved in, so I hope that things will get better in time. I’m sure that it was a nightmare when we first got Charlie, but I try to block those crazy times out. I never thought that he would turn out to be so intelligent, responsible, and well behaved. Go figure!

Bella Leche is BORED

Charlie and Bella Leche are getting along great, except for one when she tried to pull some kale from his mouth.  He’s too nice to her and she’s bigger than him!  But he really likes her, and doesn’t mind other stuff.  She likes to dig in Charlie’s litter box, still trying to deal with that, and in his sandbox.  He sleeps in there in the summer, but she just spews the sand out the side.  I think she’s getting bored though, now that’s she’s explored the entire upstairs.  She’s great in the daytime when she’s asleep, but in the morning and evening when she’s up she gets bored, destructive and fussy.  Charlie plays with toys but she isn’t interested in them.  We need to find her something fun to do instead of eating my brother’s shoes and ripping up the bathroom rug.

Bella & Charlie are Flatmates

February 2, 2011 at 10:00 pm | Posted in rabbit | Leave a comment

So this past week has seen Bella Leche move upstairs to my parent’s room where she spends most of her time with Charlie.  They’re separated at night, but can pretty much go wherever they want in the daytime.  They both seem to prefer to be in my room during the day but I send them to mom in the evening.  I didn’t think that the two would want share everything readily, but they both don’t seem to mind.  From food to litter boxes, they share as if they were blood related.  And speaking of litter boxes, I downgraded Charlie’s to the same size as Bella’s.  It seems to be working, although Bella likes to dig, only in Charlie’s, spraying debris out of the box.  We haven’t left them alone together for over an hr (with check ins), but I think they’ve become fast friends.
