Sadie has been trying to escape from her pen every time we open her gate. Sneaky, sneaky. She hasn’t been successful so far. If she wasn’t so small it would be easier to stop her, but it’s hard to block a bunny who can squeeze through tiny places. Fortunately no other bun is trying to do the same, or we would have a problem. CJ is just fine to run around in his pen, talk to Butterscotch and Hershey through fence, and visit with Sadie near her pen. Butters and Hershey always come into the kitchen when I’m preparing greens at night and lately have tried getting into the living room. There’s a cardboard wall stopping them, so every time they come back defeated. Gotta give them points for trying though.

I got CJ to purr for the first time yesterday! He’s tough little nut to crack, but a very sweet little guy. Sadie spends most of her time aggressively flopping and then going to sleep.
Last night there were fireworks nearby and I was concerned how the bunnies would all react. In a house with 6 rabbits, one thump can start a cascade thumpfest. Fortunately, they were all okay. Perhaps they just think it’s thunder? I know thunder never bothers them. All it did was wake them up, and since they were up they decided to eat some pellets. Charlie did came looking for me to warn me about the noises. Aw!

“CJ & Sadie”
Yesterday my dad was replacing a light fixture in the bathroom and Bella and Charlie of course had to come over and help him. Well, not so much help as supervise. Nothing happens on their turf they they don’t know about.
Little Sadie returned to Kamp Kronenberg yesterday, and was very excited to meet her new roommate. Every time CJ came over to the fence, Sadie would dash over and stick her nose through. She was dancing and binkying all evening.
When he’s not checking out Sadie or Butterscotch and Hershey, CJ’s new favorite place to sleep in a a corner litter box we put in his pen. Now he can relax in the comfort of a litter box and keep an eye on all the other bunnies.
This morning we woke up to a surprise though, as Sadie had managed to bust out of her pen. She pulled the rod between fence pieces up and squeezed out. And here I was so careful about preventing her from jumping out! All the boys were a little upset that she was running around freely, but everyone went back to sleep after I scooped Sadie up and put her back in her pen. We’ve had to put all the nuts back on the rods so she’ll have to find another way to escape now!

We clipped Butterscotch’s nails last night (fun!) and it didn’t go too badly. He was very unhappy about it though. He didn’t like the human clippers I usually use on Charlie, and seemed more willing for me to use the rabbit clippers. He readily ate all his rasisins, but took off like a shot to his brother when we put him back down on the floor.
CJ has been using the corner of his pen near the boys as a litter box, which happens sometimes. I put puppy pad there, so far he has only pooped on it, but last night he did something else. He decided to tunnel under the pad, and since he is so small he could have hid in the middle of it, and eventually came out the other side. It was very amusing to watch.
CJ also seems to prefer sleeping in the lemonade box at night, rather than in his cage. He will go in there in the daytime if he wants to be undisturbed, but generally seems to prefer sleeping where he can see the boys.

Yesterday CJ decided that he liked to sit in on the little baskets I give the buns to chew on. He’s so little he fits perfectly! So far I have only been able to pet CJ a little bit, but he let my brother pet him for a while. That happens sometimes, I don’t know why. Maybe he gives off a calmer aura. He is a pretty mellow dude. I have a webcam situated on the floor just outside CJ’s pen. Last night he came over and sniffed it, filling the whole screen. Then I got to see him run laps around the coffee table. What an adorable little guy!

CJ bunny is back again! He’s one of our older visitors at 10 yrs old, but he’s very spry. He was running around the room like crazy shortly after he arrived. Hershey and Butterscotch were waiting for him when he arrived, just like Kamp Kronenberg ambassadors! It was adorable. Hershey sat on his hind legs and Butters stuck his nose through the fence.
I left CJ’s cage door open because he wanted to sit up and talk to the boys all night. I put the top on but he left it as soon as he realized he could. He spent most of the night under a cardboard box where he could see the boys. He ate all of his greens, but didn’t seem to like my banana cookie (what??) That happens every so often. We’ll have to find other treats for him!
Hershey was chasing Butterscotch this morning. He hasn’t done that in a while but other bunnies always get him a little riled up. I think that’s one reason Butters will happy to be adopted. He may not get to see as many bunnies come and go, but at least his brother won’t chase him around the room!

After Rusty left yesterday, Butterscotch snuck out of the dining room. My mom left the kitchen gate open and it was only a matter of minutes before Buttersotch ran through the kitchen and into the living room. My brother spotted him in the living room going under the couch. Fortunately, he’s a gentle guy so he just had a nice sniff with Chase and we ushered him back into his pen. This little guy was born to run free. I bet he’d like to go outside, but I’m afraid he’d dig his way into the yard! I had a nice long petting session with Chase last night. She’s going home later today so we’ll have almost a full day to clean up for the next bunnies. Summer is the busy bunny season!

Yesterday afternoon we gave Chase’s nails a little clipping. We’ve turned into a full service bunny spa. She has dark nails like Hershey, but wasn’t as fussy about my clipping. I wish we could just give them some kind of a brick they could rub them down themselves. Bella did that a little to her front nails when she was digging at my wall in her cave. Fortunately Chase wasn’t very upset and was happy to let me pet her later in the day. She even put her paws up on me and begged for a cookie I was eating.
Rusty is going home today, and I’m sure Chase will miss him. She’s leaving tomorrow though so she’ll just have the boys in the dining room for a little while longer. I don’t think she’ll mind being a solo bun back at home. She’ll be the center of attention again!

Chase and Rusty appear to be quite comfortable with each other. I think she reminds Rusty of his little stuffed friend, but better since she’s a real rabbit. Apparently he likes her so much that he tried to bust out of his pen to see her. This morning my parents witnessed Rusty vaulting his 2 foot fence and hopping up onto the back of the couch. He walked along there for a minute before my mom picked him and put him back into his pen. Sneaky boy. We’ll have to make sure he has the taller fences all around his pen now.

“Chase & Rusty”
The Rusty arrived yesterday and has already made himself completely at home. He’s extremely curious about Chase (a bit more than she is about him). He’s a little too aggressive to let him go nose to nose, so I made space between the fences so they can sniff and look at each other. His snout is very narrow so he can stick it all the way through the fence for a good sniff.
Butterscotch accidentally snuck into the living room when he followed me through the kitchen. He went to greet Chase at her fence and they were both very gentle and curious. Then he hopped over to Rusty and things were not as gentle. They’re both boys though, so I don’t blame them. If Hershey had been out there, forget it. He’d be snapping at everyone except Butterscotch. I think part of it is protecting Butters, his little brother. He’s so sweet with him, but not with any other bun.
Rusty is looking to expand his borders though. He was attempting to jump his fence onto the couch this morning, so we gave him some higher fences. Gotta stay one step ahead of them!
