“Piper”

“Charlie”

Lately when I’m sitting at my desk in the evening, I’ll slip Charlie some of his big supreme selective pellets. I can’t give them to him on the floor until Piper goes to bed. He sits up and begs for them, and is absolutely so adorable that there’s no way I can say no. That little guy is a master manipulator. I think he’s teaching Piper some of his tricks too!

Now that Piper is allowed out of her pen before I get out of my bed, she frequently acts as my alarm clock. She jumps right up and I hear loud sniffing in my ear. If I don’t get up soon enough for her, she even activates her snooze function and comes back up a few minutes later. And she doesn’t even charge for the service!

My local rabbit rescue group is holding a fundraiser. These guys are the reason I have my rabbits, this blog, and hours and hours of joy from these little bundles of fur. Please donate if you can and share on Facebook. The Kronenbuns really appreciate it!

“Mason”

Mister Mason is going home today. For the first time this summer get a break for a few days before more bunnies come. I’m really going to miss him, but he’ll be back next month. He’s not quite as feisty as his sister Piper, but is just as sweet. He sheds just as much as she does too. No matter how much you groom, there’s always more fur a-flying!

Yesterday I was sitting with Mason and, for a change, I had a sneezing fit instead if him. He looked me a little funny. I guess my sneezes are louder than his. Later when I was lying on the couch, Mason hopped up to check me out. His sister Piper does this all the time when I’m lying in bed about to get up in the morning. “Whatcha doin’ up there, human?”

Douglas bunny is going home later today, and I know my coffee table will seem so empty without him. He’ll probably be happy to go home though, where he’s the center of attention. yesterday, the phone rang and the talking calling ID startled Douglas so he started thumping. Of course, whenever another rabbit starts thumping in earshot, my Butterscotch always has to join in. He stopped long after Douglas did.

We’re coming to the end of the week, and the end of both Douglas and Mason’s visits. There’s only a couple more days left to get couch cuddles, floor snuggles, table petting and foot dancing with these two big, beautiful boys. Douglas had settled in there right away, and is always up for a pet from anyone, but Mason took a little time to adjust. Sometimes he doesn’t want to be petted, but when he’s willing, he just melts into the ground like his sister Piper. I call them puddles of vanilla ice cream, just slightly furry.

Mason loves to sit on the couch after I leave the pen. The couch is always furry when I come back the next day. I wish he’d sit up there with me more, but, like most rabbits, he prefers the ground for petting.

I was eating a bowl of raspberries yesterday, and I tipped the bowl down for Douglas to see if he’d like any. He sniffed the bowl a lot, might have licked one, but didn’t take any. They were defrosted from frozen, so I guess he only likes fresh berries! Who knew rabbits had such sophisticated palates?

We brought my Piper downstairs to meet her littermate Mason this morning. She was a little more interested in checking out her surroundings than saying hello to Mason. He was certainly glad to see her as he doesn’t see as many other bunnies as she does. I don’t think they necessarily remembered each other, but they were happy to just say hello. It was interesting to see them next to one another and the difference in their bodies. Piper is a little fuller and Mason is longer. I still look at him and think that it’s my girl, but they are twins after all!

My Charlie stayed in my room for the duration because he was not interested. I don’t think the other boys downstairs knew what was going on. If Douglas had, he definitely would have wanted to come over and meet my girl. He certainly is a friendly guy.

Bunny Plucking Season

Mason kept sniffing me when I went to visit him last night and was periscoping up to the couch. I told him that he was more than welcome to join me, but he didn’t want to. He did check out my remote, but I stopped him before he nibbled off any buttons.

Douglas is shedding a bit right now on his behind. I’m somewhat compulsive about plucking shedding bunny fur, which is good for the buns, good me, so win-win! I’ve plucked Douglas’s bottom three times since he’s been here, and there’s still more fur to go. He only lets me do it for so long before he gets up in a huff, but progress is progress!

Before I went to bed last night Douglas was sitting up on the coffee table and Mason was up on the couch. I think they were trying to see each other, or just get a better view of the living room.

Who’s That Sleeping in Your Bed?

“Piper”

Yesterday Douglas decided that my foot was just as good for petting and he snuggled right under it. I obliged him, but I can’t imagine it was as good as a hand. While I cleaned Mason’s litter box last night, just outside of his pen, he just had to get a better vantage point to supervise from, so he jumped up onto the end table. That jump was effortless, and one that his sister Piper has also made.

I used to make Piper wait to come out of her pen until after Charlie had eaten his breakfast. Lately I’ve been letting her out before and they’re just sharing her breakfast. Last week she seized the opportunity and jumped up onto my parent’s bed. Problem was, they were both still in it, and both Piper and my dad freaked out a little. Then, this morning, she was doing runs and vaulted onto my bed, with me in it. I didn’t move, since it’s not the first time I’ve been run over by a rabbit, and eventually she hopped down. Then, 5 minutes later, she did it again. I guess she didn’t care that I was still up there, because there’s no way she could have forgotten that fast!

“Mason”

When I opened up the plexiglass “window” between Mason and Douglas’s pens yesterday, Mason went right over to Douglas. He even stuck his nose into the fence, but he had to wait for Douglas to finish in the litter box. Once Douglas did come over, they looked at each other and then Douglas ran away. He came back, but this time he was on top of the coffee table. “I’ve got the higher ground!” Mason didn’t seem to mind.

Mister Mason seems to have allergies and I feel so bad for him. I have them to, so I know how yucky is can feel to be congested and sneezing a lot. I know I’m allergic to grass/hay but I take something for it so I’m okay. he seems to sneeze in his box, so maybe he is too. I don’t know if they make allergy meds for bunnies, but they totally should! I think my Bella had a slight allergy to something as she sneezed occasionally, and another bun I sat for also sneezes. It is adorable to see a bunny sneeze, but I imagine they don’t feel that way.
