Yesterday we clipped visitor Matilda and my Butterscotch’s nails. We did it on the kitchen island which is a little higher than the dining room table. I’m only able to do the front nails minus the dew claws that way, but I can do eight nails alone then and just need assistance for the rest. This was probably the best behaved Butterscotch was for nail clipping. Maybe being in the kitchen threw him off.
Matilda though, was such a little angel! She didn’t even seem like she minded. She just lay there while I clipped and didn’t struggle at all when she was held for the back feet. She was as well behaved as my Hershey and Charlie, and they’re both really smart. Good job girl!
Both buns had a view of Sadie while we clipping, as her pen is just outside the kitchen door. Sadie didn’t seem to pay any attention to the commotion in the kitchen. I doubt she would have liked it if she were next though!

Glenda came over a few times for petting so far. Finola is a bit more shy. She comes over to check me out, but scoots away after I start petting her. “I don’t know you that well!” That’s okay! Glenda likes sleeping under the end table we have in the middle of her pen. A lot of buns pick that as their nap spot.
Finola is also sleeping under a table: the coffee table. I always try and give rabbits plenty of cover to sleep under. Finola also likes to lay by her gate where she’s right next to my boys. She’s shy with me, but not so much with my bunnies!
We clipped my Hershey’s nails this morning. He’s so good about being clipped. He has dark nails which are very tough for me to clip safely, but he’s so well behaved that it goes pretty smoothly. I’m relieved that his much more antsy siblings have light colored nails!

It was a hot one again yesterday, so I gave Misty a frozen water bottle to snuggle with. She’s the only bun in the house who doesn’t run away from it. After a few hours it starts to defrost and gets a little squishy. Misty decided that was a good time to chew on it. Fortunately I saw her (heard her) and re-wrapped the bottle. She didn’t do it again, but boy I’d hate to have her chew through it and all the water spill out onto the floor. Talk about a wet spot!
We clipped Hershey’s nails yesterday. He’s got short Rex fur, so the nails always look long compared to other buns. They’re dark though, so I’m always nervous cutting them as I can’t see where the blood quick line is. Thank goodness he’s so well behaved about it though. He’s a retired show bunny and is used to being handled so he’s probably the best behaved at clipping time. His little brother….takes 3 people to do it.

We clipped Glenda’s nails this morning and she was such a little angel! She was almost as well behaved as my Charlie, and she barely knows me. She’s just such a mellow bun. I think she almost closed her eyes during it. She thumped once after we put her down, but I don’t think there are any hard feelings. She then proceeded to take a bath, to wash all the human off of her.
Hudson let me pet her this this morning, and she even lay down and started to purr. Aw, she’s such a sweetie! I’m going to miss her when she goes home tomorrow, even if she isn’t the most cuddly of buns. I prefer that to a very needy bunny anyway.

We clipped Hershey’s nails last night and he was such a good boy. He hardly flinched at all. I’d expect nothing less from a retired show bunny! He also got raisins for being good, so there’s an incentive.
Yesterday Sherman decided to climb up on my laptop. To be fair, it was sitting on one of HIS cardboard boxes, in HIS pen, and he wanted to look over at Hudson from atop the box. That’s what I get for putting it there. At least it wasn’t open at the time. He wouldn’t care, bunnies never do. Especially when my “toys” take attention away from them. I guess I’m lucky they don’t try to destroy them!
Hudson came over to me when I was seated on the couch and lay down under my feet. I thought that meant she might want some petting. Nope! She shied away from my hand and then grunted at me, so I guess she just felt like sitting there. Sometimes bunnies are just fine without human interaction.

We clipped Butterscotch’s nails last night (fun!) and it didn’t go too badly. He was very unhappy about it though. He didn’t like the human clippers I usually use on Charlie, and seemed more willing for me to use the rabbit clippers. He readily ate all his rasisins, but took off like a shot to his brother when we put him back down on the floor.
CJ has been using the corner of his pen near the boys as a litter box, which happens sometimes. I put puppy pad there, so far he has only pooped on it, but last night he did something else. He decided to tunnel under the pad, and since he is so small he could have hid in the middle of it, and eventually came out the other side. It was very amusing to watch.
CJ also seems to prefer sleeping in the lemonade box at night, rather than in his cage. He will go in there in the daytime if he wants to be undisturbed, but generally seems to prefer sleeping where he can see the boys.

Yesterday afternoon we gave Chase’s nails a little clipping. We’ve turned into a full service bunny spa. She has dark nails like Hershey, but wasn’t as fussy about my clipping. I wish we could just give them some kind of a brick they could rub them down themselves. Bella did that a little to her front nails when she was digging at my wall in her cave. Fortunately Chase wasn’t very upset and was happy to let me pet her later in the day. She even put her paws up on me and begged for a cookie I was eating.
Rusty is going home today, and I’m sure Chase will miss him. She’s leaving tomorrow though so she’ll just have the boys in the dining room for a little while longer. I don’t think she’ll mind being a solo bun back at home. She’ll be the center of attention again!

Two nights ago at around 12:30, there were several gunshots or fireworks that went off. I went around the house, checking on the all the buns, but they seemed okay. Never found out what it was though.
I had a nice long petting session with Chase at my feet last night. We made some adjustments to her pen as we had to make room for Rusty. She was very curious about that, and of course was very excited when he arrived this morning. I’ve let them see each other a little bit, and they seem mostly friendly. I don’t think they’ll have any trouble being good roommates.
Before Rusty arrived this morning we clipped Hershey’s nails. He is not happy when we do that. His nails are dark so I’m always a little more cautious not to clip them too short. He, however is afraid of ANY clipping, and fusses at almost every nail. I’m going to have to do his twice as often as I normally would. I always have the Kwik Stop ready, but I’ve never actually gotten blood.

“Bella & Charlie”
I clipped Charlie’s nails yesterday. He’s such a good boy about it. Of course, he wasn’t happy about it, but he let me do it, with raisin incentives. I wish all buns were as easy to clip as him. Bella occasionally pulls the puppy pads out from under the litter box, and by that I mean once a day. One morning she did it while I was sleeping and pulled the whole pad through her cardboard tube. I couldn’t find it when I got up initially and then couldn’t believe she did that without waking me up.
Butterscotch has finally figured out that he can get to the living room if he runs through the kitchen. Now he bolts through when we open the door, so we have to barricade the other kitchen entrance. He’s so fast, he’s snuck by us several times already. Can’t outrun a bunny, have to outsmart them. Also not easy.
Hershey got a grooming this afternoon. I have to keep rolling him with sticky pads every week when he starts to get too fluffy. He doesn’t let me pluck like I do with Butterscotch and my buns, and the comb doesn’t work on his rex fur. He’s never happy with me after grooming. Both Hershey and Butterscotch’s weights are around 5 lbs now. Butters a little over and Hershey a little under. I’d like to get Hershey closer to 4 lbs eventually, but it’s not easy keeping a bunny on a diet.

Rusty is quite the snuggle bunny. I spent a couple of hours in his pen petting him yesterday. Now he’s acting like Clover and begging for it when I pass by his pen. He danced around me for a while and later did bunny runs around his pen. I have to be careful though, if he managed to sneak out of his pen, I don’t think I’d be able to catch him. Little guys are wily! He’s been eating all of the greens I’ve given him. He doesn’t seem to care if it’s cilantro, parsley, dandelion, kale or red leaf lettuce. He’s almost gotten used the Clover’s antics, which she did tone down a bit yesterday. We blocked more of her view which seems to calm her.
Bella didn’t want to come home at bedtime last night. She was too busy looking down at the new bunny. I wonder what Rusty made of the big white bunnies upstairs. We attempted to clip her nails this morning. We got 3 of 4 paws done, but it took 3 people to do it. We’re going to have to get Bella used to us touching her paws. She freaks out before I even bring over the clippers. “No! Not that! Super run-away!”
