Grooming Tips from Glenda

“Finola”

“Glenda”

I gave Glenda another good grooming last night. When I was done, I could have made another entire rabbit from that giant ball of fluff! For some reason, I’ve found that rabbits who don’t normally liked bring groomed, do tolerate it on their heads. Perhaps it’s since they can’t groom their own heads as easily, or they think it’s just an extension of a head-pet. Either way, it makes grabbing those little tufts from their cheeks easier for me! Finola is one of the only rabbits in my house right now that isn’t really shedding much. She watched me plucking Glenda and was probably relieved when I assured her that wasn’t going to do the same to her!

Hoppy 8th Birthday Charlie!

“Finola”

Yesterday my Charlie turned 8 years old and we had a little party to celebrate. Piper was very nervous as the whole family crowded into the room and was looking at her and Charlie. This was only the second birthday party she’s ever been to, so I’m sure she’ll learn. They both enjoyed all of their treats, and the humans enjoyed the cake! It’s a vegetable garden, complete with a little Charlie bunny-butt digging into the ground to get at those carrots!

Finola is staying an extra day with us (yay!) so I get more time spend with her. She’s a tough cookie with petting. She has to be in the mood, and in the right location or it’s no dice. That’s how it is with my Butterscotch and Hershey. Glenda is much more open to pets so I don’t have any trouble getting my daily petting quota in with her.

“Glenda”

I have two of the best behaved visitors with me right now. I normally keep an eye on visiting rabbits when I’m with them via a webcam, but these girls are so good that I don’t even need to watch them. Neither are really jumpers either so they don’t come up on the couch with me. Both girls are up for head pets on the floor though, which means petting is more on my terms. As long as I get to pet a bunny, I’m happy!

Finola bunny arrived today so now Glenda isn’t the only girl downstairs. My boys were sure happy to see her. Glenda came over to say hello, but she’s pretty casual. Finola tends to be a shy bunny, so Glenda is a great roommate. I can’t wait to pet that big white girl!

“Lilly”

“Finola”

Finola bunny is leaving this afternoon and I know we’ll all miss her. She and Lilly were doing runs together last night. It was so cute. I think it must have spooked Butterscotch though since he started thumping. He thumps at nearly everything though, so it’s difficult to tell.

Lilly has been trying to get under my couch, but there really isn’t any under for her to go. The couch is about 2 inches off of the ground, so she can dig at the ground and the cushions all she likes, but she’s not getting under there. Maybe she has a raised up couch at home but mine doesn’t do that. Sorry girl!

Finola spends the night up against the fence watching what’s going on. Then she spends the day next to the couch sleeping. Lilly liked watching TV with me. She sat against the fence by Finola and they slept near each other for part of the evening. What lovely ladies I have here! They’re also both great about using a litter box, so that means less clean up for me! *Can you teach my bunnies that too?*

“Lilly”

“Finola”

Bunnies Lilly and Finola both arrived yesterday. Lilly was a little shy when she first arrived but by later in the day she was hopping all over her pen and went over to talk to my boys. She likes to lounge under the coffee table where she’s got a good view of them. They’re both smitten with her, of course.

Finola is so sweet. She actually let me pet her on the first day, which she hadn’t done on her earlier visits. With two girls, you’d think it would be enough for each of my boys, but Hershey says he gets them both!

Finola’s human mommy is one of the wonderful people who helped rescue my new girl Piper when she was just a baby. All us Kronenbuns are very grateful to her!

“Glenda”

“Butterscotch & Hershey”

Finola bunny went home last night so my boys get to run around the living and see Glenda now. She’s not terribly interested in them though. She prefers sleeping under the table or just lounging around in general.

I made a batch of aloe vitamins yesterday which also happen to include banana. Buns would never eat the aloe otherwise! About halfway through Butterscotch and Hershey finally got a whiff of what I was doing and congregated at the kitchen door. No odor gets past them!

And here’s a parting gif of Finola taking a bath yesterday:

“Finola”

Glenda came over a few times for petting so far. Finola is a bit more shy. She comes over to check me out, but scoots away after I start petting her. “I don’t know you that well!” That’s okay! Glenda likes sleeping under the end table we have in the middle of her pen. A lot of buns pick that as their nap spot.

Finola is also sleeping under a table: the coffee table. I always try and give rabbits plenty of cover to sleep under. Finola also likes to lay by her gate where she’s right next to my boys. She’s shy with me, but not so much with my bunnies!

We clipped my Hershey’s nails this morning. He’s so good about being clipped. He has dark nails which are very tough for me to clip safely, but he’s so well behaved that it goes pretty smoothly. I’m relieved that his much more antsy siblings have light colored nails!

“Finola”

“Glenda”

Two girls are now with us at Kamp Kronenberg, and my two boys are very happy to see them! Glenda returns for her 7th visit with us. She’s in the middle of a shed right now so was very shaggy when she arrived. I was able to pick her up in her litter box and groomed her on a table. She wasn’t happy about it, but eventually gave in and just let me groom her. She got some raisins at the end, so it wasn’t all bad!

Both Glenda and Finola are loving the hand-me-down IKEA sea grass baskets. It’s the small pieces that my buns are no longer willing to chew on, but they’re still perfectly good for less fussy buns. Most of the visitors toys are hand me downs since my buns get bored with their toys oh so easily.
