“Jeffrey”

“Fulton”

“Motley Chue”

Motley Chue went home this morning, so now we’re down to 5 rabbits a guinea pig. Fulton has been eating all of his greens and most pellets. He always comes over to anyone begging for treats. He’s a really good beggar! When Motley left we made pens bigger and now he can see more. He was going over to Jeffrey this morning and saying hello. I’m glad neither is afraid of the other.

Jeffrey is pretty happy no matter what we do. Now he’s got another bunny to talk to, even if they don’t’ really understand each other. he does have this habit of tipping his pellets out of his bowl and hay out of a basket, but I’m used to much bigger messes than that. My family has really fallen in love with Jeffrey. We’ve never really spent any time with guinea pigs before and he’s such a sweetie. He’s definitely welcome back any time! h

“Fulton”

“Jeffrey”

“Motley Chue”

Yesterday we moved Jeffrey over a little to make room for Fulton. He’s next to Butterscotch and Hershey now and they both want to really see him. Hershey stretched up over the cardboard between them and Butterscotch is right at the plastic window saying “hello.” Jeffrey is right next to our Christmas tree now and his favorite new place to sleep is right near it. It’s so cute. He’s also in the line of sight from upstairs, so now Charlie and Bella can see him from the top of the stairs. I don’t think they know what to make of the little guy.

Fulton arrived in the afternoon and initially was not really interested in the other rabbits and guinea pig. He spent most of the day sleeping in his favorite spot, the far end of the coffee table. He did come out in the evening to see Motley and Jeffrey, but he was mostly interested in me coming over to give him his veggie treats. He came up on the couch once too looking for treats.

Motley wanted to see Fulton, but since he was hiding most of the day she had to settle for Jeffrey. He was making little *week* noises this morning when I came to see them.

With all of the new activity in the house Butterscotch hopped onto the chair in his pen to get a better look, and wound up falling asleep up there. We just happened to see him loafed up on top of the chair, fast asleep in the afternoon. Is there anything more adorable than that?

Licks, Dreidels & Snores

“Motley Chue”

“Jeffrey”

I had some nice petting sessions with Jeffrey yesterday and he even licked me a little once. He seems to like his back pet and if he’s really enjoying it, he’ll lay down flat like a pancake and stretch his legs out while he purrs. He gives much more a response to petting than rabbits do. Sometimes I’m lucky if they just let me pet them while they’re already lying down.

Last night my brother and I were playing dreidel in the dining room on the floor. It was pretty much the only space on that floor of the house with enough room to do it. Of course, Hershey and Butterscotch had to come over and see what we were doing. I thought they would start chewing on the dreidels, but they mostly just wanted to check up on what was going on in “their room”. It we’d been using real chocolate gelt, then I’m sure they would have gone for that!

Motley was a happy bunny last night, binkying all over her pen. She’s a big bun so she got some nice air! Today my mom heard a noise and figured it was a far off car alarm going off. Then she realized, no- it was Motley snoring! Every day we seem to think it’s something else! Bunnies snoring is just adorable.

“Motley Chue”

“Jeffrey”

My mom and I both got to pet Jeffrey yesterday and he even purred! Guinea pig purrs are a little different from rabbits. He sounds like he’s making a trilling noise. When rabbits purr it’s because they’re slightly grinding their teeth, but Jeffrey vocalizes. It’s very cute. He even went over to Hershey at the fence and made some noises at him. I guess he’s trying to talk to him, but I don’t know if Hershey understands his language.

French Lop Motley Chue arrived last night and everyone came over to see her. She’s a big rabbit, but little Jeffrey was not afraid. Hershey came over and puffed up his chest to show he wasn’t scared either. For once he’s not the smallest critter in the house, but he always wants to be the biggest. My brother heard Motley snoring this morning, she does that a lot. He said he thought it was the washing machine at first! It doesn’t sound like my Charlie’s snores, but I guess every rabbit snores differently.

“Honey”

“Motley Chue”

Motley stayed another night with us, so Honey got to meet her. She was a little noisy last night so I hope he wasn’t bothered too much. He seems pretty happy. He’s lying down and snoozing right now. He ate all the greens I gave him last night and this morning: dandelion, kale, parsley and cilantro. I saw him drinking from the bowl we gave him too. It’s so cute to watch bunnies drinking. Both rabbits did bunny runs this morning. I don’t know if one inspired the other, but my own rabbits tend to do them in the morning as well. Honey will be with us for a week, and after Motley leaves tonight, it’ll be just him and our buns for a while. Only 5 rabbits for me to take care of, piece of cake!

“Motley Chue”

Little Lily went home last night so I opened up her pen for Butterscotch and Hershey to run around in. They really liked meeting Motley Chue, and she and Hershey shared a few runs along the fence. The boys didn’t get too feisty with each other. Motley liked sitting there and watching the two little boys run around. That was cute. Motley is heading home tonight, but we’re getting another bun to take her space. I’m gonna miss Motley. She’s such a sweetheart, the bigger buns usually are. She likes running across my lap on the couch, and pressing buttons on my laptop. I hope to see her again soon!

“Lily”

“Motley Chue”

Motley was snoring a little yesterday. Bunny snores are always cute, people not so much. We had a very long couch snuggle last night. Petting a bunny while sitting on the couch is the best kind of bunny sitting. Both of the ladies we have here now remind me of doggies. Lily is like one of those fluffy white terriers and Motley is like a floppy eared puppy. Lily is going home tonight, but I think she enjoyed meeting Motley. They’re both okay with one another and generally just ignore each other. That’s getting along well for bunnies.

“Motley Chue”

“Lily”

Motley Chue is already having a good time at Kamp Kronenberg. She jumped up on the couch as soon as I sat down on it, and hopped across my lap several times. She’s certainly the biggest lap bunny I’ve even had! Later she and Lily said hello to each other and lay alongside the fence next to each other. It’s so nice to see girls that aren’t fighting, but these two are pretty sweet girls. Hershey, of course is biting at the fence to try and get near Motley. She did runs this morning and he dropped his pellets and ran over to the other end of the dining room to watch her. I’m so glad I can provide entertainment for him! No one tried to escape last night, but I think Motley’s big noisy feet frightened the smaller buns. They’ll get used to it, but the first night with strange bunnies is always a little tricky.

“Motely Chue”

Motley and I had some nice snuggles last night. I was exhausted from cleaning bunny green so I lay down next to her in the evening. She snored a bit and purred. I also spent time with the little boys. As per usual, they sniffed around me, and when they discovered I didn’t have any food, left me. They did eventually let me pet their heads a little. I forget how soft they are! Hershey’s extra-soft Rex exterior makes up for his occasionally bristly attitude.

“Motley Chue”

“Butterscotch”

“Hershey”

A little while before Jacko and Tone left yesterday, I removed cardboard between the fences. Everyone seemed to be doing so well and I needed t9 take down the cardboard to alter Motely’s pen anyway. There were no fights, I was so pleased! Tone was so happy. He could check out his brother on one side or Motley on the other. Even Jacko moved so that he could sleep watching the buns.

The only downside was that Hershey decided to get feisty. I guess the increased viewing angles got him a little upset and he started chasing around Butterscotch. He stops if I come over and give him a pet (I know, rewarding the bad one, not good!). The dwarf in him just gets him riled up sometimes.

I noticed Motley snoring a little bit last night. Only when bunnies do it, is snoring adorable. She’s so mellow. It’s like having a fluffy spotted rug on the floor, that occasionally poops.
