“Glenda”

“Sherman”

We said goodbye to Hudson last night, but the boys got to meet Glenda as we moved her upstairs. Sherman is, of course, very excited to meet another girl, and I think she likes him too. Butterscotch and Hershey haven’t said much yet, but I’m sure they’ll be checking her out today from across the room. Last night the two boys got into a tug of war with clover stick. It was so cute, even though Hershey was trying to steal it from Butters. He got his own eventually. Last night Sherman was sleeping all loafed up on top of the end table he usually sleeps UNDER. I’ll bet he’d be sleeping on the couch if we gave him access!

Hand Over That Banana!

I finally think I realize why Sherman fusses at me when I first go in his pen, it’s the shoes. I usually wear slippers in his pen so I can sit crosslegged, but sometimes I forget to change them when I first go in the pen. I think he doesn’t realize that it’s me initially. Once he does he’s a total snuggle bunny, but he’s aggressive at first.

Everybun had a piece of banana last night, and everyone gobbled it up. Hudson took it rigt from my hand and even did the bunny-butt twitch. It was adorable!

Glenda has been quite happy in her downstairs apartment. She flops and prances around. She even asked my brother to pet her, several times. I hope she won’t mind leaving that peace and quiet to join all the boys upstairs tomorrow, but I have to give my dad his den back!

We clipped Glenda’s nails this morning and she was such a little angel! She was almost as well behaved as my Charlie, and she barely knows me. She’s just such a mellow bun. I think she almost closed her eyes during it. She thumped once after we put her down, but I don’t think there are any hard feelings. She then proceeded to take a bath, to wash all the human off of her.

Hudson let me pet her this this morning, and she even lay down and started to purr. Aw, she’s such a sweetie! I’m going to miss her when she goes home tomorrow, even if she isn’t the most cuddly of buns. I prefer that to a very needy bunny anyway.

Glenda bunny arrived yesterday, putting our total at 7 bunnies in the house. She took a few minutes to come of her carrier, but once she did she was bounding all over the room. We have her in our den right now, so she’ll get to spend time with my dad and brother. She’s a sweetie though so I know she won’t cause any trouble. Sherman knows she’s here already. He’s been trying to look down into the den to see her. He’ll get to meet her in a few days! Hudson is still the only girl upstairs, and I don’t think she’s ready to give that up just yet. Last night I was sitting on the couch and she came and lay down right at my feet. She didn’t want petting, but I think she just wanted to be near me. Awwwww!

“Sherman”

“Hudson”

I went to the city to see a Doctor Who screening last night, so I had to leave my bunny charges in the capable hands of my mother. Sherman didn’t seem to pay her much attention. He spent most of her time in his pen on his box. Hudson didn’t really want my mom in her pen either, startling every time my mom got up. So she decided that Butterscotch and Hershey’s pen was juuuuuuust riiiiiiight! The only bunnies miffed by my absence were my own, Charlie and Bella. I could see Charlie under my chair, through the crack in my door sitting up with a dissaproving stare. He’d like it if I never left the house. “You’re here to serve ME, human!”

Sherman tried to take over my laptop again. He doesn’t seem to quite know how to use it, but his way works for him. He’d probably be exited to see other rabbits on it, if he understood the screen was like a window and that he can’t actually get at them. He wants to get to Hudson desperately, and still tries after 2 weeks. I wonder if he’d like to have a friend at home. I don’t know how well he’d get along with another bun, as he can be quite aggressive to me even, but if he found the right bunny… He’s definitely homesick though. He misses his own turf and has to keep trying to defend his pen here from “invaders”.

Hudson is sleeping under the couch again today. We have the AC off and the windows open and that’s when she did it last time as well. Maybe she doesn’t like the breeze? Or the smells? I don’t know, but as long as she can get under and out of the couch on her own, she can do whatever she wants.

Yesterday, Aug 12, was my little man Charlie’s 6th birthday. We had a little party for him and I baked a carrot cake. I used parsley as the stems on the carrots so he could eat that, and us humans ate the cake. Everyone enjoyed it! Charlie nibbled on his presents, and then peed a little on the floor. I think he got so excited and was little overwhelmed by all of the humans in the room at the time. That’s okay, it’s his birthday and he can pee if he wants to. Bella ran under the dresser and eventually he joined her. I think he was most happy to be able to spend his birthday (and all days) with her. They’re such sweethearts. All the other buns in the house got their carrot treat early that day. I offered Sherman a sniff of the carrot cake, but he was not interested. I guess it doesn’t smell like carrots!

“Hudson”

“Sherman”

I took a nap in Sherman’s pen yesterday. I lay down in the middle and he actually let me fall asleep for a little while. I woke up to hear Hudson doing her runs in her pen. Then Sherman came over to me and I pet him. This sweet, calm little guy is so different from the one when I enter the pen. I guess he must be homesick. At least I’m keeping him entertained, even if he does miss his family.

I’ve been having a tough time taking pictures of Hudson where her ears aren’t blurry. She’s constantly moving them and in low-light it’s hard for the camera to focus. Slow down a little girl! My brother also said she’s a like robot when her head scans around the room. Fortunately she isn’t planning on attacking anyone, just sniffing them. He tried to pet her last night, and it seemed like she was going to let him, but pulled away at the last minute. Oh well, maybe next time!

“Hershey & Butterscotch”

I tried to let Sherman come into the kitchen yesterday while I was cleaning bunny greens. I figure he must be unhappy being cooped up in his pen. He’s probably used to having more freedom at home, and he’s with us for almost 3 weeks. I opened his pen so he could come into the hall and even put down a piece of cardboard to walk on, but no dice. He did not like it and wouldn’t come out. I fully expected him to be running around the kitchen, trying to break into the dining room. Oh well.

Later in the evening though, Sherman broke out of his pen. I had gone upstairs for a moment and just clipped his gate shut with a black clip, not the gate lock, and apparently he figured out how to push past that. When I came back down not 5 minutes later, his little head was poking out into the hall. I ran in and saw his gate was wide open and he was heading for the other side of the living room. Hudson didn’t go near him,, (couldn’t care less) but I was worried that Hershey would fight him if he went close to their pen. He ran around the tiny area that is “no man’s land” in the living room for a minute before I corralled him back into his pen. Now if I could just put carpet down in kitchen, he’d run around in there instead!

This morning Butterscotch didn’t want to eat his pellets. He has gotten stasis in the past, so we were ready with the medication should the need arise. Fortunately, about 4o minutes later he was running around the room, checking out the laptop I was using to “spy” on him, and eating pellets. Phew! Crisis averted!

Sherman seems to be fussing whenever I come in his pen now. I don’t know if he wants attention, food, or is annoyed at me but he grunt and tries to climb up my legs. If I’m cleaning his litter box, he is NOT happy and continues to grunt, but if I sit down he comes over and lets me pet him. He probably doesn’t like being one bun of many in the house. He used to being an only bun at home and garnering all of the attention. His stay’s about half over, so he’s got a bit left to go before he goes home.

Hudson on the other hand is quite content to spend her days in her pen, undisturbed. She’s used to having 3 little siblings at home who steal all of the attention (and make a ruckus) so our house is calmer by comparison. She doesn’t seem to mind our two fosters, Butterscotch and Hershey, but all they do is sit and look at her from across the room.
