“Sweetie Bun”

“Douglas”

Sweetie Bun will be heading home today, and another boy is going to be taking her place. She always runs over to greet me when I enter her pen. Last night she chinned my foot too.I guess that means I’m hers until someone else claims me!

Douglas did some bunny runs in the evening yesterday. He sure can move fast with those big tootsies! This was right after he had a good long look at Sweetie Bun in her pen through their plexiglass window, so maybe was showing off for her. I gave him a couple of ceramic tiles that my buns have never liked to lie on, and he almost instantly flopped down onto them. Boy knows how to keep it cool! I just got confirmation that he’ll be able to return next Feb for a stay, but he probably won’t be needing the tiles that time of year!

Welcome Back Douglas!

“Douglas”

“Sweetie Bun”

Sweetie Bun has her own pair of sunglasses, even though she doesn’t go outside. Hers, instead, are for tossing around. This bunny sure knows how to enjoy summer!

Douglas bunny arrived last night. I’m so glad to have him here again. He’s a coffee table bun, which is just like a coffee table book, i.e. he sits on the middle of the table. He must have a good view from up there of all the buns in the area.

Big Clipping Time

“Sweetie Bun”

“Piper”

Yesterday we clipped my Piper’s nails. She’s pretty good about it, which is great because she’s a big girl and tough to keep in the position I need her to clip. She’s still nervous about it, but I think that she will learn what we’re doing after we clip her several times and be more comfortable. My Charlie and Hershey are like that since they’re such smart buns. My Butterscotch on the other hand, will never be happy being held for ANYTHING.

I went to see Sweetie Bun after clipping Piper and she must have smelled her on me. Not too hard since Piper’s a big girl and she’s shedding! Sweetie got all excited, smelling another bunny. The novelty wore off after a few minutes though. Her favorite thing to do right now is play with and cuddle with her big stuffed bunny. There are some advantages over having a live mate: she’s bigger than most buns I’ve seen, and she’s always up for a cuddle!

“Sweetie Bun & Cheeks”

Cheeks went back to her wonderful home this morning, so my boys get to play in her pen until Douglas arrives tomorrow. They said hello to Sweetie Bun who was hard at work chewing up her cardboard. We had a lot of fun last night playing with a towel. She did a little dance as I dragged the towel around and she attacked it. Once she caught it, she would instantly lose interest until I picked it up again.

“Cheeks”

“Sweetie Bun”

Sweetie Bun doesn’t always want me to pet her, but does purr when she’s in the mood. She would much rather groom, snuggle and play with her big bunny toy. “I don’t need you, human.”

I was finishing my Butterscotch’s birthday cake last night and of course Cheeks had to come over and check out what I was eating. She took a nibble of the cream on top, but did not want the chocolate ice cream at the bottom. But chocolate’s the best part! Cheeks will be heading home tomorrow and I sure will miss her. The coffee table won’t be empty for long though!

“Sweetie Bun”

“Cheeks”

Sweetie Bun has been enjoying sleeping in the end table, as many bunnies do. When she’s not doing that, she’s playing with her own personal giant stuffed bunny. Both Sweetie and Cheeks seem to be okay with one another. I opened up their window last night and they said hello to each other.

Cheeks has been enjoying tossing as many toys as she can into her food dishes. Sometimes it’s her big greens bowl, and other times she really tries to challenge herself and goes for the smaller pellet bowl. Just don’t go throwing things into the water bowl girl!

“Cheeks”

“Sweetie Bun”

Today Cheeks welcomed her new roommate for a few days: Sweetie Bun! They’re both sweet girls so I’m sure they’ll get along. My boys are, of course, thrilled to have two ladies visiting. Next week it’ll be two boys, so they better enjoy it now! Sweetie settled in right away, and is currently sleeping in my Butterscotch’s favorite spot: under the end table. Cheeks was digging the newspaper in her carrier when Sweetie arrived, but I’ll open up their “window” later so the girls can say hello to each other.

“Sweetie Bun”

“Misty”

My mom sat down on the couch in Misty’s pen last night and had a nice petting session with her. She hopped on up and snuggled in. What a cuddle bun! This morning Butterscotch was chewing on his fence, as he is apt to do, and this time Misty joined in by chewing on her fence. I guess he taught her something new. It’s not going to get them anywhere but I guess they’re so eager to be nearer to each other.

Last night when I was on the floor with Sweetie Bun, she flops onto my foot, then a minute later jumps up and runs around the pen buzzing. Then she runs back over to me and under my legs before stopping and flopping again in the middle of the room. What a crazy rabbit!

After finishing his pellets in the evening, Hershey darted through the kitchen and went to the living room fence. He chewed on that for a good 5 minutes, trying to get at Sweetie Bun. She just sat there and stared at him. She’s going home soon and I guess he was getting in last licks before she leaves.

Smell of the Great Outdoors

“Misty”

“Sweetie Bun”

We had the windows open yesterday and Sweetie Bun enjoyed sniffing the breeze coming in. I’m sure there’s lots of good outside smells in there. She had a good time playing in her paper bag again. She goes in there and turns around, digs a little, then comes back out. I don’t know what’s so fun about that, but she certainly has a good time doing it.

Misty is such an easygoing bun. She doesn’t fuss when I clean her litter box and even lets me pet her a little when she’s on the couch with me. She’s with us for an extended stay and I couldn’t think of a sweeter bun to have with us for that long. She’s even better behaved than some of my rabbits!

My Charlie boy seems finally back to normal. He’s eating normally again, fighting with Bella for the choice greens. My brother had his foot on their foot mat and my Bella almost took a bite out of him. She says, “if it’s on the mat, it’s on the menu!”

Soft and Silky

“Sweetie Bun”

“Misty”

I had a nice snuggle with Misty on the couch last night. She’s almost as soft as a Rex, but her fur is a little more silky. Not sure what that is, but it’s really nice to pet! Her color pattern is similar to Hershey’s, but she has blue where he has brown. If you look at them in dim light they’re almost a mirror image, especially since they’re lying on opposite sides of the fence.

Every morning I’ve been coming down to a very messy litter box from Sweetie Bun. She likes to dig, just like my Bella, but I only now thought that I should use the grates I made for Bella for her. Voila! She still can dig the hay, but it doesn’t mix with the litter and make a mess that I have to clean first thing in the morning.
