I had a nice long snuggle with Annie on the couch last night. Toby was watching us from his litter box for part of the time. He likes to sleep under the end table on the shelf, but when I come and sit in his pen and put my feet on the edge of the shelf, he hops out. “There’s only room for one of us on that shelf!” I gave Penny some more grooming and head pets. She’s a little more sedentary now so once she settles in for petting, she’s in it for a while!

Yesterday Toby let me pet him for a bit. He snuggled next to his litter box and let me get in a few head rubs. He’s a real sweetie once he warms up to you. He’s so very much like my Charlie, checking up on all the other buns. Annie is always jumping up onto the couch to see what’s happening and Toby can see her from the end of his pen. I’d imagine he’s telling her, “Be careful up there, Annie!” Penny is more sedentary as a nine-year old, but Toby makes sure that’s she’s okay, every time she comes over to the fence. He’s the designated thumper If there’s anything wrong, he sounds the alarm by thumping until a human comes to investigate.

I just got a fresh bale of hay from our local Agway and the buns are all loving it so far. I think there might be some clover in it, but not so much that’s it’s an issue for my “diet” buns and my sludge-prone Charlie. It’s green and soft and not very dusty. The only problem I have with it now is that they keep gobbling it up and I have to keep putting down more! All four of my rabbits and all three of our visitors approve. I think Penny, Toby or Annie are pretty good about eating hay, but not all of my buns are. Charlie and Butterscotch (the stasis prone buns) do not really like hay, so I always try to have at least some good hay around for them. Sometimes that means bagged hay from Oxbow, or 3rd cut hay from Small Pet Select. Hay with clover is always welcomed, if I can get it.

I had a nice petting session with Penny and Annie yesterday. Penny sat down next to my feet and presented her head for petting. i was happy to oblige. Annie jumped up on the couch with me and lay down on the cushion next to me and snuggled in for head rubs. Toby is not as much of a snuggle bunny, but that’s okay. He’s just about at the point where he tolerates me being in the pen with him. I can give his head a quick pet, and then he’s off. he definitely likes looking at his sisters for entertainment more than anything I can give him, which I get. Lots of bunnies are that way. As long as they all come running at meal time, I’m happy.

Bunny siblings Penny, Toby & Annie are visiting us again! It’s been a while since they’ve been here, but they’re all as sweet as I remember. Penny loves to munch on her hay and liked to lounge at her “window” looking at her little brother Toby. Toby alternated between looking at Penny on one side, and baby-sister Annie on the other. He’s a very attentive brother! Annie loved to explore her pen and was doing runs in the evening. She even went up on the couch and did some quick-turns up there. Zoom!

Miss (or Mister) Cutest Bunny Antics

Toby has decided that he prefers to sleep under the Christmas tree rather than in his pen. It’s adorable. He’s competing with Annie for “Cutest Bunny Antics”. She’s a tough contender though. This morning she’s been sleeping in different spot along her fence. Maybe she’s moving with the sun? Although, there isn’t any sun today, it’s snowing! The royal buns are leaving this afternoon . I hope they don’t mind a few flurries! Kirby and Penny’s pen got an upgrade, as we opened up the little annex for Kirby to finish his pellets in to both of them. Yay! Kirby’s eaten all of his pellets. Now we just have to wait for Toby…

Toby loves hopping around under the Christmas Tree. I keep an eye on him so he doesn’t chew on any branches or wires, but he mostly wants to dig at the skirt and look over at Penny and Kirby. I don’t think that they like that he has tree access, but the two of them would probably climb up into it, and knock it over. I had put a pillow on top of Annie’s chair, to prevent her from jumping up there at night. What does my dad find in the morning? Annie on top of the pillow. I swear, some bunnies have springs built into their feet. Toby hops around like an antelope!

Everyone is still gobbling down their food, except Toby, who takes his time. I don’t know how, but Kirby and Penny always seem to know when I’m getting ready to feed them. I’m around the corner, out of their vision where only Annie can see me, but they’re always at the fence, paws up when I look at them.

When my dad was watching them for a bit yesterday, Toby jumped up on the Christmas tree platform and had to be shooed down. Of course, he waits for me to leave before he attempts it. I’m apparently the authority in the house. Annie keeps jumping up on the chair we put in her pen. She likes to sit up there and look around. Conceivably she could jump out of the pen from there, but I don’t think she realizes that. I let her run around in the kitchen a bit and she always exhausts herself. Half an hour later she’s always back in her pen sleeping. Adorable!

Happy Vacationers

King Kirby and his royal buns are here again for a few days. So far everyone is eating well (including Toby, yay!) and generally enjoying their vacation. Last night Toby explored our Christmas tree. I think he approves. Annie was doing binkys and bunny-runs like crazy, showing off what an adorable little girl she is. Kirby and Penny both let me have nice petting sessions, before they bolted for the open kitchen door. All 6 buns in the house are asleep right now, ignoring the snow that’s falling outside. The house is quiet, for now.

We took Bella to the vet yesterday. The doc said Bella seemed to be in a lot of pain when she touched her shoulder. She felt a muscular knot in her shoulder and decided to sedate her x-ray. There didn’t seem to be any breaks or fractures, but there was some arthritis forming in her left shoulder.  My poor baby! She told us to keep up with the medicam and cage rest and gave us some banana-flavored supplements for the arthritis. Well at least she’ll like that. Banana is Bell’s favorite.

King Kirby and his royal buns left us for home this morning. Little Toby thumped when he saw his mama but was quick to give her a hug. Annie went into her carrier and played with a towel and never came back out. What a funny little girl! I think Kirby and Penny will be happy to be home. Penny is very easygoing, but Kirby was NOT happy that he wasn’t the pampered prince he’s used to at home. I’ll miss Annie running over to the fence to greet me. She’s such a little puppy.

Our dining room isn’t lonely though, because we got a new arrival just after the royal quartet left: Glenda. I haven’t interacted with her much yet, as it’s nap time, but she seems very curious about her surroundings and not afraid at all. I’m sure we’ll become fast friends. She’s such a golden cutie!
